The director implements the policies and decisions defined by the Board of Directors in terms of strategy, positioning, work programme and management of staff. He is assisted by a director of studies.
He develops the work programme in relation to Agam partners and monitors its implementation. He organises implementation, assessment and evaluation. His leadership and coordination role is aimed at optimising study resources and encouraging consistency and synergy among the cross-disciplinary project work.
The general secretary is responsible for developing human resources and administrative and financial management.

It carries out communication actions aimed at the target audience in line with Agam's general strategy. It implements any means, action or network aimed at promoting and disseminating the work of the agency among partners and local decision makers.

It participates in the drawing up, monitoring and permanent adaptation of regulatory planning tools and documents in the agency's field of intervention. It also ensures coordination between the different studies of the agencies which contribute thereto, and provides "oversight" of planning developments in general.

It collects, organises and assesses statistical, cartographic and documental data necessary to understand regions and analyse urban phenomena. It also manages an intelligence system necessary for decision-making help.

This deals with environmental issues and raises awareness as to sustainable development requirements. It also carries out urban transport and travel research covering the urban area.

Produces studies on different scales, from large areas to a single block and, in particular, prior to the launch of planning projects. It also gets involved in the countryside landscaping, coast development and the urban insertion of transport infrastructure. Finally it promotes urban, architectural and landscaping quality.

This provides observation, coordination and expertise services mainly to local authorities. Its objectives are to: understand and encourage the development of the Marseille metropolitan area, providing information at the discussion stage prior to the drawing up of planning documents.
